FAQ's

What security measures do you have?

Keys are kept secure and safe and no key can be identified to individual properties. Your personal information will be stored in accordance with the data protection act and will never be shared or sold to any 3rd parties.


What happens in the event of an emergency?

In the event of an emergency, I will contact you or your emergency contact immediately. If your dog requires veterinary attention it will be taken to your named vet or the nearest vet depending upon the degree of urgency. This will all be discussed in our introductory visit.


Are you police-checked?

Yes, I hold an enhanced DBS check.


Are you insured?

Yes, we hold full public liability insurance. A copy of this certificate can be show at our introductory visit.


Does my dog need to wear a collar and tag?

Yes, the control of Dogs order 1992 requires dogs to wear a collar and disc tag showing both the name and address of the owner.


Does my dog have to be fully vaccinated?

Yes, your dog must be fully vaccinated and evidence shown at our introductory visit. The exception to this is for puppy home visits.


Does my dog need the Kennel Cough vaccination?

No, it is not essential but advisable especially when out and about with other dogs. Seek further advice from your veterinarian.


How many dogs do you walk at one time?

I will walk up to 4 dogs at a time (depending on the dogs and their needs), this will ensure that they have full attention and are kept safe.


Will you walk my dog in all weather?

Yes, I will walk your dog come rain or shine, the only exception would be in severe weather conditions that might present a risk to your pet's safety (eg. extreme heat or cold). In this eventuality, alternate arrangements will be made with you for either garden home visits or early morning/late evening walks.


What if I need to cancel a walk?

I require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel walks either by text, phone or email. If you wish to cancel a regular service, 2 weeks notice is required. Failure to comply may result in charges.


Do you allow dogs off their lead?

Yes, with written consent from you, and only when in dog-safe areas. I will also do this if I am confident in your dog's recall. Of course not everyone wishes their dog to be let off, there is an option for exercise on a 10-meter lead to have a runaround- you can enquire about this in our introductory visit.


When can you walk my dog?

I can walk your dog as little or as often as you like. I am available to walk your dog 5 days a week.


Do you charge if we are away and take our dog with us?

No, unlike other dog walkers we do not charge, I just ask that you give me as much notice as possible.


How do I pay?

Payment is weekly, you will be invoiced for the walks you have booked. Unfortunately due to poor payments in the past, payment must be made before the week's walks commence either in cash or by bank transfer (details will be on the invoice).


Where do you walk my dog?

I will walk your dog within your local area. If there is a specific park or walk that you prefer, I will try my best to accommodate.


What areas does Big Pooch Little Pooch cover?

I am based in Selby, North Yorkshire and cover the surrounding small villages. Please feel free to message me to see if your area is included!


Do you provide poo bags?

Yes, we will provide them free of charge.


How much is the introductory visit?

The initial meet and greet (introductory visit) are free of charge. It enables both you and me to meet and for me to do an initial assessment of your pet. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and complete the paperwork.


How long does a puppy/cat/small animal visit last?

Each visit will be for approximately 20 minutes.
